The Day Democracy Died (a parody of American Pie by Don Mc Lean—original words underlined).
Not very long ago
I can still remember how elections used to make me smile
When I knew we all had a chance
Before some fell in the liar’s trance
And thought they’d be happy for a while.
But every day now gives me shivers
With every order he delivers.
Bad news to each doorstep.
A dangerous misstep.
I will remember how I cried
When I saw what voters did decide
Then something touched me deep inside
The day democracy died.
So ,cry, cry, see democracy die
Cast my ballot in the poll booth, but it all was a lie
And Musk with his young boys gave a victory cry
Singin’ that they helped democracy die
That they helped democracy die.
Does he think in his self-love
That there is no law he’s not above
Just because he tells you so?
He believes that he is on a roll,
But he can‘t save his mortal soul.
And one percent’s no mandate we all know.
Well, we know that he’s in love with him
And lets Musk have his every whim.
Trump was glad at the news–
Man, now he has to pay the dues.
He was a lonely teenage broncin’ buck
In the military school where he was stuck
But he was finally in luck
The day democracy died
So, I started singin’:
Cry, cry, see democracy die
Cast my ballot in the poll booth, but it all was a lie
And Musk with his young boys gave a victory cry
Singin’ that they helped democracy die
That they helped democracy die.
Now four more years we’ll be on our own
Since for his sins he will not atone
But that’s not how it used to be
When our elections were all fair and clean
And no force was plotting sight unseen
Against voices that came from you and me.
Oh, and while we all were looking down
The jester stole the nation’s crown
And justice was adjourned;
No verdict was returned.
And while Elon read a book on Mars
Trump freed the rioters in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day democracy died.
We were singing, cry, cry, see democracy die
Cast my ballot in the poll booth, but it all was a lie
And Musk with his young boys gave a victory cry
Singin’ that they helped democracy die
That they helped democracy die.
Helter skelter, policies a welter
Should I build a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
Our bodies foul on the grass.
Democrats tried not to let them pass
But the jester chose his wealthy, evil cast.
Jack Smith the truth he did exhume.
While the jester played a skeptic’s tune
We all wanted to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance.
When truth tellers tried to take the field
The jester he refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day democracy died?
We started singing, cry, cry, see democracy die
Cast my ballot in the poll booth, but it all was a lie
And Musk with his young boys gave a victory cry
Singin’ that they helped democracy die
That they helped democracy die.
Oh, and there we were in one sad place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to vote again.
So come on, bring back justice, make it quick:
As the Senate sits there weak and sick
Cause it’s ruled by the devil’s only friends.
Oh, and as we watched him on the stage
Most of the nation cried in rage
His soul promised to hell
Who won with Satan’s spell.
And the constitution through the night
Burned in their sacrificial rite
As Satan was laughing with delight
The day democracy died.
He was singing: cry, cry, see democracy die
Cast your ballot in the poll booth but it all was a lie
And Musk with his young boys gave a victory cry
Singin’ that they helped democracy die
That they helped democracy die.
Now everyday we sing the blues
As we pray each day for some happy news
But justice smiles and turns away.
I went down to the sacred store
But it’s not the same as years before
And the man there said that justice wouldn’t play.
And in the streets protesters screamed
Of such a farce they never dreamed,
But there was no joy spoken
The nation’s hearts were broken.
And those who we admire most
Refused to lift a glass and toast
And joined resistance coast to coast
The day democracy died.
They were singing cry, cry, see democracy die
Cast my ballot in the poll booth, but it all was a lie
And Musk with his young boys gave a victory cry
Singin’ that they helped democracy die
That they helped democracy die.

(Extra verse:)
Now the government’s in tatters
Since his agenda only matters.
Hegseth, Patel and RFK,
Will lead us straight to our doomsday.
