About “Alice”
“Alice” is about the inner life of a single woman as she struggles to survive in an unsure world.
Alice Cartoons© is a creation of Andrea Beizer, a Philadelphia based artist, cartoonist, architect and college professor. The strip originally made a monthly appearance during the mid-1980’s in the Philadelphia Architect, a local publication of the American Institute of Architects, and Manhattan Comic News in 1989.
At the encouragement of friends and colleagues, and especially Tony Auth, Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, the strip was brought back to life during the summer of 2013.
“Alice” has been revised to show a more contemporary style. Alice the character is older than the original 1980’s version, and the drawing style simplified. Alice is created using ink on Mylar.
